The 2023 US Open is in full swing, and a group of celebrities were spotted in the stands watching the drama of the finals of the men’s singles match on Day 14, featuring Novak Djokovic beating Daniil Medvedev. The guest box featured no less than Kylie Jenner, Timothee Chalamet (“Dune”), Laverne Cox, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (“Andor,” “The Bear”), and Brat-Pack legend Molly Ringwald watching the match unfold.

While Ringwald can only be briefly seen in the clip shared by the US Open Tennis social media account, she can be clearly seen during the clip. She’s sitting in the same row as Moss-Bachrach enjoying the festivities. Seeing such an eclectic group of celebrities all in the same place drew a great deal of attention on X, with fans chiming in on Ringwald enjoying the tennis matchup:

Some users expressed disappointment with the likes of Molly Ringwald and Moss-Bachrach not being as noticed as the other celebrities. It appears the controversy primarily on the X app trend primarily stems from the US Open account not mentioning the star of such films as “Sixteen Candles,” “Pretty in Pink,” and “The Breakfast Club.” The initial clip with Ringwald posted on the US Open account did not name Ringwald in the caption for the star-laden clip tweeted out on Sunday (Sept. 10).

Ringwald is best known as a 1980s movie queen, starring in the iconic John Hughes films “Sixteen Candles,” “The Breakfast Club,” and “Pretty in Pink.” She was part of a generation of young actors that were dubbed “The Brat Pack,” many of whom are still active today. Those films are still revered to this day and recognized as generational classics. As previously reported by The Blast, Ringwald also reunited with her “Breakfast Club” co-star Ally Sheedy (“St. Elmo’s Fire,” “Short Circuit”) last December for an “early Christmas present-dinner.”
More recently, Ringwald appeared in the hit CW series “Riverdale” as Mary Andrews, the mother of Archie Andrews (KJ Apa). She also starred in the award-winning series, “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” appearing as Shari Dahmer, the stepmother of Jeffrey Dahmer, portrayed in the series by Evan Peters.
Many other big-name celebrities were present throughout the tournament. As noted by People, other celebrities at the game were the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban, Matthew McConaughey, Emily Ratajkowski, Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Timberlake, and Zach Braff to name a few.
At the very least, it looks like all the celebrities in attendance were having a good time watching the tennis finals. The final match on Sunday saw Djokovic win with a 6-3, 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over Medvedev at Sunday’s game at Flushing Meadows. The win granted Djokovic the 24th Grand Slam title of his career, a world record for men’s tennis singles. Earlier on Saturday, 19-year-old phenom Coco Gauff beat Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s final to win the first major singles title of her career. Gauff is the youngest player to win a US Open singles title since Serena Williams won in 1999 at the age of 17.
